Since 1997 Jhai has helped start and nurture hundreds of rural businesses in schools and clinics in Laos and India. Jhai also helped local Lao coffee farmers develop and nurture a coffee co-operative that now includes 71 villages and is quite successful.Jhai’s preference is to work with the poorest rural and slum people towards self-chosen goals.
Jhai starts with relationships. We then co-develop health, education and livelihood projects – preferably integrating all three -with very poor people based on visions and plans developed in a very participatory way.
Jhai prefers to work with organizations that have the capacity – or can gain the capacity – to scale. Jhai commitsto mentoring on a fee for services basis local people, non-governmental organizations and companies. Ournotion is to mentor so that people who know their area well will help themselves.
